Canadian International School, located in Tokyo is an accredited Canadian school, which embraces the philosophy of a Canadian education. Our students work with Canadian certified, highly qualified teachers as they move through the various grade levels from kindergarten to Grade 12. The curriculum links from one grade and academic level to another are closely monitored providing the best opportunity for students to develop academic skills, and gradually expand knowledge. Modern teaching strategies, provision of student enrichment units, recognition of various student learning styles, and a culture of academic support create a special learning community at Canadian International School.
A focus on international education provides the foundation for the presentation of the Canadian curriculum to students. From Kindergarten to grade 12 students are guided through the process of understanding themselves, their own culture, and that of others. International education is thus included in all classes and subject areas, as learning materials from many different cultures are used to support the curriculum.
Students from many foreign countries attend CIS. Small class size makes it possible for each homeroom teacher to become an academic mentor and advisor for students as they challenge the Canadian academic program. Teachers have high expectations for CIS students and provide support for students so that they can achieve their best.
The highly academic high school program provided by CIS also ensures that successful students will achieve post secondary entrance requirements for Canadian and other universities.
CIS provides a superior education, as students gain a true appreciation of the value of learning, the academic skills and knowledge needed for future success. Our graduates will have acquired the characteristics needed for a successful post secondary career and a happy, productive life.
